| One Person Can Make a Difference
One of the most powerful stories I have heard from any of our many Nehemiah Network mission trips is about a young woman on the Amazon River named Cineidi. Cineidi lives in Paiziuba (piel-she-ooba), a very primitive and remote village on the Amazon River. Most of the village's men were heavy drinkers and took poor care of their families. They beat their wives, and their kids ran around naked, dirty and often sick. The people in this village had no morals at all. Francisco, Cineidi's father, sold whiskey out of his house. Cineidi watched in horror as her father sold her older sisters as prostitutes to the fisherman. When Cineidi was 13, she accepted Christ as her Savior. She was the first person in her village to become a Christian. It was very difficult for her to live for Christ. One by one, her family began to follow Jesus through her persistent testimony. Even her father, Francisco, made a decision to follow Christ and his decision radically changed his life. Using the Bible, Cineidi learned to read and write. She began doing Bible studies with other families. Today, those who knew it before can hardly recognize Paiziuba. The houses have all been rebuilt and the children are clothed. Located in the center of the village and surrounded by flower gardens, is the church where almost everyone in the entire village gathers at least four times a week to worship God. Cineidi's father, Francisco, is the leader of the Church. Cineidi starts her day at 5:30 AM going from house to house, having devotions with each family in the village. Twice a month, she takes the young people of the church to neighboring communities and spreads God's word up and down the Pineapple River. Sergio and Laura are a mission couple who are now living in the village, discipling the Christians, and training leaders. They are also working with Cineidi and teaching others to read. Cineidi wants to go to Bible School and to work as a missionary to river people. |

| Dear Butch (Paul),
We are off to to another exciting year! We are looking forward to the opportunities ahead in 2007. Please continue to pray for the Nehemiah Network and all the people that will be traveling with us. |
| Guatemala Work Trip January 2007 Guatemala is a land of volcanoes, sugar cane fields and a multitude of people. Our first Word Of Life Nehemiah Network work trip for 2007 headed there in January with a group from Michigan hosted by Ron Morton. The team spent the first ten days at the camp and completed various projects. As an update to their ministry, Marcelo Diaz, the director for Word of Life Guatemala, gives this well-spoken comment about their mission work: "We continue with the camp construction . . . Please pray, for we need to enlarge the dinning room and the kitchen. We have space for 300 people and the last week we had 450 people counting staff . . . We need two more cabins and more bathrooms . . ."
Every trip is awesome! So please set aside time in your schedule in 2007 to join us on a Nehemiah Network adventure!

| | Medications for Ministry At Nehemiah Network health care clinics we use medicine as a means of ministry. The free health care benefits are used as a method of drawing people to us so we can offer the spiritual salvation message that is eternal. For many of our health care trips, we purchase MAP packs from MAP International. MAP packs are pre-packaged containers with approximately $12,000.00 (wholesale value) worth of essential medications. The packs are made up of medications that have been identified as necessary in developing countries. They are compact, fully, stocked, portable pharmacies that are easily transported anywhere. The cost for each pack is around $500.00 and includes shipping costs, custom order medication and supplies.
With the MAP packs priced at around $500.00, this could easily become a small group, family or Sunday school class project. Even if you are unable to travel with us, you could participate in our clinics by purchasing MAP packs. This would allow you to be a very essential part of our team.

December 22, 2007 10:30pm Nehemiah Network Update -- Papua New Guinea Health Care Trip
 | | Word of Life Nehemiah Network Update Papua New Guinea Health Care Trip | | | | October 18, 2006 | | | | | | Dear Nehemiah Network Friends, The first ever Nehemiah Network health care trip to Papua New Guinea was a real success! Our team, hosted by Rick and Vi Brooks, recently returned from a life-changing experience. The 23-member Nehemiah Network health care team consisted of dentists, physicians, nurses, a chiropractor, a pharmacist, and individuals who worked in evangelism. Altogether, the Papua New Guinea team cared for 2,033 patients and they gave out 1,276 prescriptions. However, the most exciting news is their success in leading 180 patients to Christ! Among the throngs of people gathered at the gate to the church where we held the clinics were pathetic faces longing for some help for their dire physical conditions. As the healthcare team would drive in each morning, the crowd looked like the parting of the Red Sea as the people made way for the bus to pass through them. Each individual was personally triaged by the nurses and then they began the long wait to see the doctors, dentists, etc. Although each person had a story to tell that would tug at your heart, one scene touched the heart of the pediatrician. A young couple with a small infant sat waiting with their child who was listless in their arms. The baby’s head was larger than normal and it was determined that he had swelling from water around the brain. The only solution was surgery to relieve the pressure or the infant would soon die. The parents sat there hopeless as they heard the news. Surgery would not be possible for this couple because it was far beyond their means to pay for it. The Doctor lovingly told them of God’s love and prayed with them over this little one. Then, the local pastor took them aside and was able to give them the hope they so desperately needed. Often during the week this doctor would pull money out of his pocket and tell patients to go to the hospital and get x-rays, etc. since he knew they could not possibly afford to do this on their own. He would then read their x-rays and make recommendations and give the appropriate medicines for to their needs. Please be in prayer for John Airi, the field Director in Papua New Guinea, and his staff as they begin the necessary follow-up work with so many new converts.
