October 29, 2008 12:13pm NN Nigeria Health Care Team
 | | Word of Life Nehemiah Network Update Nigeria Health Care Trip | | | | October, 2008 | | | | | Dear Nehemiah Network Friends, October 18-26, 2008, the Nehemiah Network took a Health Care Team to Nigeria and ministered in various remote villages outside of Jos. There were 17 trip participants on the Nehemiah Network Health Care Team. The participants from America we were joined by national doctors from Nigeria. We came along side the Word of Life missionaries (Peter & Bette Verkaik, Bob & Meridith DeVoe abd Barry & Deborah Bass) to support the Word of Life ministry there. During the five days of clinics, our team cared for 2,684 patients, gave out over 5,000 prescriptions (with a US retail value of over $225,000.00), and more importantly, we saw 457 salvation decisions for Christ. Thank you to all who prayed for the Visa Situation! Many of you received our request for prayer for the approval of our visas prior to our departure for Nigeria. We are convinced it was through the faithful prayers and the intervention of God that got our Visas approved. We were told on multiple occasions that our Visas would not get approved but all 17 were finally approved the day before we were to depart for Nigeria. This left us just enough time to overnight the passports with visas to each team participant. We knew that God would do great things on this trip based on the amount of opposition we were getting. We go on these Short Term Mission Trips to be a blessing to the people we care for and they end up blessing us.
One very special story that touched my heart took place on the last day of clinics in the village of Rimi. I met a 14 year old girl who was a Christian and spoke very good English. Deborah shared with us that she had never seen a white man in her village before. As with most Nigerian's Deborah's dream is to go to America. When I asked Deborah why she wanted to go to America, her response surprised me. She said, "...because the people of Nigeria are evil in their heart." I shared with her that the people from America are also "evil in their heart". After much discussion with Deborah, I challenged her to read her Bible every day to which her response was, "I don't have a Bible." We quickly got her a Bible and she promised she would read it every day. I also taught her how to use the Evangecube and left her with these tools to use in helping her share the Gospel. Please pray for Deborah in this remote village of Nigeria. Many of the children were fascinated with our "white skin" as most of them had never seen a white person before. Taking the Gospel to remote areas in third world countries, such as Nigeria, is a great privilege. We praise the Lord that He allows us to serve Him through the Nehemiah Network Short Term Missions ministry opportunities.

July 30, 2008 12:04pm NN 2008 Bolivia Work Team
A Nehemiah Network work team recently returned from Word of Life Bolivia. The trip was not only a blessing to the trip participants but to the ministry staff in Bolivia. One of the work team participants (Troy) said he went on this mission trip and expected to “suffer for Jesus” however he never was able to suffer. The Word of Life camp property in Bolivia is absolutely beautiful. It’s located on a beautiful lake and mountainous region just outside of Cochabamba. This past year, the water from the lake had reached its upper limits and flooded the property with waves beating on the buildings. The Nehemiah Network work team built a new stone retaining wall to protect the buildings and to make a comfortable seating area for 100’s of campers looking for a nice place to have their Quiet Time with the Lord. This retainer wall was the main project the team focused on. However, there were many other smaller projects that were completed by the team to include building walls for the new offices at the end of the gymnasium are and varnishing the stone walls. It was an awesome place to work for two weeks, even though the air was thin at 8,700 ft elevation. The Word of Life staff took care great care of the work team. The Word of Life Bolivia staff are dedicated to reaching the youth for Christ in their country and treated the team like royalty! Word of Life Bolivia have many building projects in their future. Many more work trips are needed. Pray about joining us on one of these trips in the future. You can view pictures from the Bolivia work trip on the Nehemiah Network web site at: http://www.wol.org/nnetwork/album.php
July 30, 2008 11:58am Nehemiah Network 2008 Austria Work Trip
Austria is a place of majestic beauty and breath talking views. A Nehemiah Network team went to Word of Life Austria to help the missionary staff in Villach Austria. The work teams project goal was to renovate the 3rd floor hallway and curved ceilings. After 3 days of scraping paint the mess increased as electrical and heating lines were recessed into the two foot thick walls. A window opening was cut into the exterior wall that took 2 days with a small jack hammer to remove. The fifth day the team started working on re-plastering the the area while the ladies worked outside weeding flower beds and landscaping. While the work was tedious and dusty, the fellowship was an encouragement to all. Everyone enjoyed the free time after work to relax by walking into the beautiful historic villages, hiking, and castle viewings all within several minutes of the Word of Life Austria property. The setting seems like paradise and the people are friendly. However, these people are blessed with material wealth and have no desire for spiritual matters concerning God and His Word. Please pray and consider joining a team in the future to help encourage the WOL staff in Austria. Pray for the missionaries in Austria (Fierus' and Lamb's) as they continue to develop ways to reach the young people of Austria and that they may have wisdom for the culture and its spiritual need. June 22, 2008 7:01pm Nehemiah Network March 2008 Guatemala Health Care Trip
In March 2008, the Nehemiah Network took a Health Care Team to Guatemala and ministered in the villages of Moyuta and Jalapa. Our total team size was 101 strong. The team consisted of 41 trip participants on the Nehemiah Network Health Care Team. There were 42 Guatemalan nationals that joined our team. The 42 Guatemalan Nationals were made up of two national doctors, two national dentists and Word of Life Missionary staff, translators and ministry support people. We also had 19 students and chaperones from Delaware Christian School in Ohio that joined our Health Care Team helping with translation, ministry to children and evangelism. During the four days of clinics, our team cared for 2,108 patients, gave out 2,935 prescriptions (with a US retail value of over $132,000.00). More importantly, we saw 492 salvation decisions for Christ. We had a number of unique cases on this trip. One such case was an 82 year old lady who was the mother of six children but had never been to a doctor. Her doctor visit at the Nehemiah Network Health Care Clinic was her first ever. Another lady walked five miles on a broken leg to the clinic where she received Christ while her cast was being put on. We sent her home in the back of a pick up truck so she didn't have to walk five miles in her new cast. (See Pictures Below)
We go on these short term mission trips to be a blessing to the people we care for and they end up blessing us. We certainly appreciate everyone's hard work to make the clinics a great success. Special thanks to the Word of Life Guatemalan Mission Staff and the Health Care Team participants that made this trip possible. April 9, 2008 2:54pm Nehemiah Network February 2008 Costa Rica Work Team
We took a team of 23 participants on a Work Trip to Costa Ricain February. This year we worked on Marco and Fanny’s (Missionaries at the Word of Life Camp Property) house and began work on camp side walks. The two weeks went fast as we worked in the hot sun and high temperatures. It is always a delight to work with the Word of Life Costa Rica staff and see how we encourage each other. Our Camp Scholarship auction brought in over $5,000 for needy campers.
April 9, 2008 2:19pm Nehemiah Network February 2008 EL Salvador Work Team
In February, El Salvador was prepared for our arrival of 52 people on this Nehemiah Network trip. This trip included an out reach team which was able to be in several public schools sharing the gospel. In 5 days over 5,000 youth were reached with the message of salvation and over 400 responded to the invitations. Our work projects at the camp included renovations of staff housing and camper dorms. It was great to take part in the out reach ministry when 1,400 youth came to the camp on our last day there. The property is beautiful with many LARGE trees but when it was filled with children of all ages, it took on a special attraction! We held our first Camp Scholarship Auction and saw over $11,000 pledged. We have another work trip planned for November so why not come along? We’d love to show you this ministry first hand.
April 9, 2008 2:11pm January 2008 Guatemala Work Trip - Miniature Golf Course
Nehemiah Network started 2008 with an awesome work trip to help WOL Guatemala accomplish two major projects: Landscaping around the camp property and starting the construction on an 18-hole mini golf course. Our team of 7 worked hard in the hot sun and saw both projects well on their way. During this work trip we had extra help from the WOL staff and from another group of 18 from Faith Missionary Alliance Church, Winston-Salem, NC. Most of this group worked everyday on the meeting hall putting in insulation, painting and finishing the ceiling in the entrance. It REALLY is looking sharp! The AC units are being installed in the next few months! Together all the work went well. (Updated mini golf pics below)The high light of this trip, like all others, is spending time together around the tables sharing what the Lord has done. The testimonies of the staff encourage our hearts to serve with more passion. We encourage their hearts by commitments for prayer and financial help. All the trips are really a win/win situation for everyone. You can see updated pictures of our projects and camp properties at: http://www.wol.org/nnetwork/album.php WOL Guatemala work team January 2008 Project: Mini Golf Course and Landscaping.
April 8, 2008 10:08pm Nehemiah Network 2007 Kenya Health Care Trip (November)
Our first Nehemiah Network short term mission health care trip to Kenya was a great success. The team of twenty five from America teamed with the staff at the Word of Life property in Mombasa to conduct free health care clinics to the needy people in various communities around Mombasa. The team cared for 1,082 patients, gave out 1,745 prescriptions and saw 668 people put their faith in Christ. PTL!
We conducted clinics in two different public schools near Ukunda and spent one day at the maximum security Shimo La Tewa prison of 2000+ inmates. While at the prison we saw 71 salvation decisions from prisoners. What an awesome opportunity to share the love of Christ with those that have nothing but time. Pray for the Kenya staff as they follow up with these new converts. Also, pray for the decisions made by the many new believers that they would begin to grow in their relationship with Christ.
You can check out some of the pictures on the Nehemiah Network web site ( Click Here )

| One Person Can Make a Difference
One of the most powerful stories I have heard from any of our many Nehemiah Network mission trips is about a young woman on the Amazon River named Cineidi. Cineidi lives in Paiziuba (piel-she-ooba), a very primitive and remote village on the Amazon River. Most of the village's men were heavy drinkers and took poor care of their families. They beat their wives, and their kids ran around naked, dirty and often sick. The people in this village had no morals at all. Francisco, Cineidi's father, sold whiskey out of his house. Cineidi watched in horror as her father sold her older sisters as prostitutes to the fisherman. When Cineidi was 13, she accepted Christ as her Savior. She was the first person in her village to become a Christian. It was very difficult for her to live for Christ. One by one, her family began to follow Jesus through her persistent testimony. Even her father, Francisco, made a decision to follow Christ and his decision radically changed his life. Using the Bible, Cineidi learned to read and write. She began doing Bible studies with other families. Today, those who knew it before can hardly recognize Paiziuba. The houses have all been rebuilt and the children are clothed. Located in the center of the village and surrounded by flower gardens, is the church where almost everyone in the entire village gathers at least four times a week to worship God. Cineidi's father, Francisco, is the leader of the Church. Cineidi starts her day at 5:30 AM going from house to house, having devotions with each family in the village. Twice a month, she takes the young people of the church to neighboring communities and spreads God's word up and down the Pineapple River. Sergio and Laura are a mission couple who are now living in the village, discipling the Christians, and training leaders. They are also working with Cineidi and teaching others to read. Cineidi wants to go to Bible School and to work as a missionary to river people. |

December 22, 2007 10:33pm NN Costa Rica WT #1 February 2007 We left Ohio before the biggest snow storm in 25 years and came back when it was almost gone. What a great two weeks we spent in Costa Rica while you all were in the cold! Thirty-two people were with me on another NN work trip enjoying the sunshine and “warm days” of over 100 degrees. The work went well with team spirits super high. Our Bible studies were a tremendous blessing and received many good comments. This year, our camp scholarship auction brought in enough commitments to send 170 youths to camp next year! It was awesome to hear some testimonies of past campers who found the answer to this life and eternity in Christ.Project accomplished: - Poured concrete floors in two rooms in the new gal’s cabin.
- We also had one of our team install wireless DSL Internet in the whole camp! Now work teams can call home for 2 cents per minute over the Internet and check their e-mail right in the dining hall.
- Put up wood ceilings in 4 rooms and closed in the eves on several sides.
- Several of the team worked in the kitchen and made the meals a delight!
More ministry opportunities: - On Sunday afternoon we held an evangelistic activity in a small town just 3 miles from the camp. The team passed out fliers at 2:30 and by 4:30 there were about 250 children and parents on the soccer field for the event. That evening we showed the “Jesus Film”. Again, the place was packed and many made commitments to Jesus as their Savior.
It was an awesome trip with everyone just having a super time. The day we went to Monteverde was the clearest I had ever seen. Do you remember the coffee farm we visited? Their teenage daughter was given a camp scholarship, came to camp and was voted the best camper of the week. She came to know Jesus at the camp fire on Friday night! Next year’s trip CR trip: March 1-15, 2008 We had to cancel our April Peru work trip because of lack of volunteers. June has a trip scheduled for Mexico and we are looking for people to go with us. If you are interested in joining this early summer trip, we need to know ASAP. There is a trip to Kenya in July, another to Portugal in September, Costa Rica & Chile in October, a trip to El Salvador & France in November. Don’t wait to sign up later… go to www.nnetwork.org now and get on-board today! This February, while Pam shoveled the snow, I worked in the 100 degree hot sun. | | Medications for Ministry At Nehemiah Network health care clinics we use medicine as a means of ministry. The free health care benefits are used as a method of drawing people to us so we can offer the spiritual salvation message that is eternal. For many of our health care trips, we purchase MAP packs from MAP International. MAP packs are pre-packaged containers with approximately $12,000.00 (wholesale value) worth of essential medications. The packs are made up of medications that have been identified as necessary in developing countries. They are compact, fully, stocked, portable pharmacies that are easily transported anywhere. The cost for each pack is around $500.00 and includes shipping costs, custom order medication and supplies.
With the MAP packs priced at around $500.00, this could easily become a small group, family or Sunday school class project. Even if you are unable to travel with us, you could participate in our clinics by purchasing MAP packs. This would allow you to be a very essential part of our team.

December 22, 2007 10:32pm NN Work Team Gutemala 2007 Guatemala is a land of volcanoes, sugar cane fields and a multitude of people. Our first WOL NN work trip for 2007 traveled there in January. Ron Morton was the NN host and took a group from MI. It was a smaller team than usual but the work that was accomplished was well over the staff’s expectation. We spent the first 10 days at the camp and were able to see these projects accomplished: - installed wooden ceilings in 2 dorms and 3 apartments
- repaired the front steering on the much needed tractor
- expanded the sprinkling system in the main part of the property from the meeting hall to the dining hall
- designed a new staff house which is under construction at this time
- installed a water purifying system (This will save them about $2,000 per year)
- designed a new cabin complex for 44 campers which will include inside bathrooms
As an update to their ministry, Marcelo Diaz put it so well:“We continue with the camp construction. Right now we have the following rooms with nice ceilings, the auditorium, eight cabins, the dinning room, swimming pool, gymnasium, kitchen, and soccer field. Please pray for our need to enlarge the dinning room and the kitchen. We have space for 300 people and the last week of camp we had 450 people counting staff! Next year we will have 7 more Bible clubs and are not able to add more weeks to the camping season. So we need to enlarge what we have now! We also need two more cabins as well as bathrooms which are necessary. We already started the construction on the new building for couples which is another great blessing . That will help fill the need of a ministry for couples to this country. We thank God for all the groups that came from America to help us. Each one was a great blessing and helped in many areas of the camp. We make a great team together for the Lord.”
December 22, 2007 10:30pm Nehemiah Network Update -- Papua New Guinea Health Care Trip
 | | Word of Life Nehemiah Network Update Papua New Guinea Health Care Trip | | | | October 18, 2006 | | | | | | Dear Nehemiah Network Friends, The first ever Nehemiah Network health care trip to Papua New Guinea was a real success! Our team, hosted by Rick and Vi Brooks, recently returned from a life-changing experience. The 23-member Nehemiah Network health care team consisted of dentists, physicians, nurses, a chiropractor, a pharmacist, and individuals who worked in evangelism. Altogether, the Papua New Guinea team cared for 2,033 patients and they gave out 1,276 prescriptions. However, the most exciting news is their success in leading 180 patients to Christ! Among the throngs of people gathered at the gate to the church where we held the clinics were pathetic faces longing for some help for their dire physical conditions. As the healthcare team would drive in each morning, the crowd looked like the parting of the Red Sea as the people made way for the bus to pass through them. Each individual was personally triaged by the nurses and then they began the long wait to see the doctors, dentists, etc. Although each person had a story to tell that would tug at your heart, one scene touched the heart of the pediatrician. A young couple with a small infant sat waiting with their child who was listless in their arms. The baby’s head was larger than normal and it was determined that he had swelling from water around the brain. The only solution was surgery to relieve the pressure or the infant would soon die. The parents sat there hopeless as they heard the news. Surgery would not be possible for this couple because it was far beyond their means to pay for it. The Doctor lovingly told them of God’s love and prayed with them over this little one. Then, the local pastor took them aside and was able to give them the hope they so desperately needed. Often during the week this doctor would pull money out of his pocket and tell patients to go to the hospital and get x-rays, etc. since he knew they could not possibly afford to do this on their own. He would then read their x-rays and make recommendations and give the appropriate medicines for to their needs. Please be in prayer for John Airi, the field Director in Papua New Guinea, and his staff as they begin the necessary follow-up work with so many new converts.

September 13, 2006 7:10pm NN Work Team France #1 2006 Nehemiah Network Work Team to France April15th through 29th: This small team of 9 participants worked on projects for the Word of Life Missionary staff at the Paris property. The team worked on various small projects including landscaping, painting, cleaning strucutre repair and renovation. However, the main project for the trip was the kitchen and dining room renovation at the missionary staff housing on property. This was an "extreme makover" of the old block wall utility room which was turned into a modern day kitchen with beautiful tile flooring and gorgeous cabinets from Ikea. What a blessing it was for the team to be a blessing to the Word of Life missionaries serving in France. Please continue to pray for the staff in France and our future Nehemiah Network trips back to France and the many other countries we have trips scheduled for.
July 5, 2006 4:04pm NN Work Team Peru 2006
Nehemiah Network Work Team to Peru April 22nd through May 6th: A small team of 7 traveled to Peru desiring to make an eternal impact. The team was comprised of three couples and Nehemiah Network Trip host Ron Morton. Our team gave of their time, finances and talents to work on an addition to the boy's dorm briniging their total capacity to 300 campers. The ministry in Peru reaches about 30,000 youths per year with the Gospel of Christ. Our team will remember they were part of this ministry for years after they have returned to their individual homes. "I never knew how well advanced the ministry was. This has opened my eyes to a much larger vision in reaching Peru with the gospel." Please remain in prayer for Peru and the many other ministries of Word of Life around the world. The NN Peru work project for 2007 will be finish the 1,200 square foot maintenance building. This building will be utilized to manage the entire property from one location, better utilizing the maintenace staff's time. Why not plan ahead to join us April 14 - 28 2007?!
July 5, 2006 3:31pm NN Healthcare Team Honduras 2006 Nehemiah Network Health Care Team to Honduras April 1st through 9th: A team of 20 willing servants traveled to Honduras to minister to the medical and spiritual needs of the people of that country. The team joined hands with the local Word of Life staff to meet the spiritual and medical needs of the local people. There were 1977 people that received medical, dental and optometric care during 6 days of clinics. Over 4000 prescriptions with a value of $134,000.00 were dispensed. However, the most important care was given for the souls of these dear people. There were 261 confirmed salvation decisions. The clinics were held in the town of Zambruno which has a population of approximately 5,000. Interestingly, the building used was a community center that normally houses a dance hall and bar which were closed for our use. Please pray for Word of Life Honduras as they are awaiting government approval to begin working on thier camp property.
July 5, 2006 3:16pm NN Guatemala Health Care Team 2006 Nehemiah Network Health Care Team to Guatemala March 25th thorugh April 1st: The Nehemiah Network Team of 29 was made up of dentists, doctors, nurses, medical students and ministry people who cared for 1,989 patients in Guatemala and saw 392 salvations. The free Nehemiah Network Health Care Clinics were the talk of the village in Los Cerritos where they shut down the only school and gave us the classroom for our examination and treatment rooms. The atmosphere was much like a carnival had come to town with not a soul in town wanting to miss it. Even the town Ice Cream and Taco vendors showed up to cater to the crowd's needs. The crowd was mesmerized by the giant Evange-cube which was used for meetings throughout the day. Children from the villages enjoyed being entertained by the students from WV School of Medicine who took shifts of playing with them while their parents held their place in line. Thanks for your prayers.
June 1, 2006 3:11pm Island Storm Cleanup Project
On May 30th, 2006 a massive wind storm went through the Schroon Lake area effecting the Word of Life Island. Because of the destruction and damage from the storm we are organizing a massive cleanup effort to prepare for opening day of camp on June 25th. As a result of the storm, there are hundreds of trees that are down on the Island with around fifteen cabins needing minor roof and structural repair. The ropes course has some repairs needed to prepare for opening camp and all the major power lines are down on the Island as a result of the fallen trees.
We are looking for the following people to help us in this effort to prepare for opening the Word of Life Island for camp on June, 25th.
- Power Line Men
- Carpenters & Construction Workers Needed ASAP
- Dozer & Backhoe crews for road repair & work
- Boat Drivers with NY PV licenses
- Experienced Tree Crews Please call as many have responded to this need
If you are interested and available in helping in any of these areas, please contact us at the following numbers:

February 2, 2006 11:12am NN Guatemala WT 2006 Report
On January 7th, 2006, a group of individuals wanting to serve the Lord, embarked on a journey; one that would lead them to the new WOL camp in southern Guatemala. This group was lead by area missionary and Nehemiah Network representative, Ron Morton. At the start, the group was composed of seventeen individuals from Christian Fellowship, Scotland, CT, and later joined by seven individuals from Orangeville Baptist, Orangeville, MI.
The goal of this group was to help prepare the camp for another camping season. Preparations included building 500 feet of side walk connecting the meeting and dining halls, making improvements to the meeting hall, installing irrigation systems in the new soccer field and adding other finishing touches around the camp. The 100º+ temperatures and the bothersome gnats made the work more challenging, but it did not dampen the spirits of this ambitious group. After long days of work, the team members relaxed with swimming, good food, and air-conditioned rooms to sleep in.
There was much accomplish in the two weeks that the Nehemiah Network work team was there. As they left for home, many, if not all of them, took with them memories and sore muscles. For as much as this team accomplished, there is still work to be done. Please continue to pray for Guatemala staff. They have 27 weeks of camp filled this year. Pray for the other upcoming Nehemiah Network trips as well. The next Guatemala NN WT is set for January 6-20, 2007, so sign up today!
September 24, 2005 10:45am Operation Living Hope - Hurricane Katrina Project
Dear Friends,
Neither words nor pictures can even begin to explain what we are experiencing here in the devastated Gulf Coast Area. This has been one of the most life changing and humbling experiences of my life. At times, it has been overwhelming as we drive to the job to look at what needed to be done. We are in our second week of relief efforts here helping to strengthen and build up the Church of Jesus Christ. We have gone to Churches in the devastated communities and began by helping the churches and their members. Within the communities where the church member’s homes are, we have been making many contacts from the surrounding neighbors and having opportunities to help them and share about the love of Christ.
During the first week, we had a team of 14 from Ohio and New York and we did mostly tree clearing. Many homes had trees on their roofs which had ripped huge holes in the roofs. We cleared many trees from houses so people could begin repairing their homes. During the second week, we had a team of 26 students from the Word of Life Florida Bible Institute along with 3 staff and 3 men from New York. With this team we continued to clear trees and gut houses where salt water from the gulf had flooded. Because the water had stayed in many of the homes for days, there has been much mold and mildew damage which required us to throw absolutely everything out and gut the walls down to their studs.
So far we have completed over 38 jobs including, tree cutting & clearing, gutting houses, patching roofs and sorting clothes & supplies. While helping a member from the Bible Study Baptist Church near Biloxi Mississippi we met Gerald Russell who has had five heart attacks in the last year. His home was flooded and the salt water which has ruined his motorized wheel chair/scooter. Gerald, who is a believer, and his wife are living in a camper, which FEMA has provided for them and setup behind their home. We patched the roof of his home with tarps. His insurance company told him that he must get temporary patches on his roof because they would not cover any more damage caused from rain. While we were working on Geralds roof, it was humbling for him to come out of his trailer and ask me, "Can I get you guys something to eat . . . all I have to offer is the MRE's (Meals Ready to Eat from the Military) FEMA has been giving us." After we were had completed his roof he offered to pay us. I told him that his payment to us would be telling people about Jesus. We want to raise money and buy Gerald a new motorized scooter. If you are interested in helping with this, you can make donations on our web site at http://www.wol.org/katrina
One of the challenges we gave to the students was to not only minister to the physical needs, which are overwhelming, but to take opportunity to minister to the spiritual needs. Many of the students spent time passing out Bibles, tracks and a book by Ray Prichard called, Anchor for the Soul. One of the BI students, nick named 'Billy Bob', had an opportunity to lead a teenage boy named Ken to the Lord. Ken was walking down the street and began to share with Billy Bob the emotional stress he was going through during this time. It was a real joy to hear the Testimony of Billy Bob as he shared how he had led this young man to the Lord. Each evening when we return to the Church where we are staying at, it has been worth it all to hear the testimonies from the BI students and other team participants and the impact this trip has made in their life. One of the first questions that people would ask after we approached them about helping was "how much is this going to cost?" Many of them would go on to tell us they had lost their jobs and are getting a small check from FEMA. The expression on many of their faces was invaluable when we told them it would cost them nothing and we just wanted to help because we cared for them.
We greatly appreciate the prayers and the gifts from all those who helped make our efforts possible. So far we have enough money raised to cover this next (3rd) week of relief. We are hoping to bring a 4th team of students from the FL Bible institute. However with the cost of Gas and other expenses, it is costing us around $300 per day to keep our relief & ministry efforts going. If you are interesting in sponsoring a day or part of a day, please visit our web site at http://www.wol.org/katrina 100% of all monies given to this project goes to help Hurricane Katrina victims.
We are currently working on getting pictures on line. These pictures will be available soon on our web site at http://www.wol.org/katrina

June 1, 2005 10:50am Romania Health Care Team & Korea Work Team Participants
A Nehemiah Network Health Care Team has returned from a very successful ministry in Romania. The team cared for 724 patients and saw 152 of these patients put their faith in Jesus Christ. What an exciting ministry through a Nehemiah Network Health Care Team. So far this year, Nehemiah Network Health Care Teams have been to Honduras, Guatemala, EL Salvador, India and Romania. In these five countries, the teams have cared for over 6800 patients, issued over 10,900 prescriptions valued at over $493,000.00 and seen 1,439 salvation decisions. WOW! What an exciting door of ministry through health care clinics.
We also have many exciting projects for Work Teams all around the world to the Word of Life properties. One of the newest opportunities is for the renovation project to the newly acquired building in South Korea. This is a renovation project to be used as classrooms, chapel, office space, kitchen and dining room. This project needs to be completed by August, 2005. We are looking for electricians, plumbers, painters, electrical & air-condition workers and painters who would have the availability to join in this effort in Korea. Please contact us if you might be able to help in this area.
Thanks to all of you who pray and participate for the Nehemiah Network.
We know our ministry would not be possible except through the faithfulness of God's people.

Tsunami Project - Operation Living Hope Nehemiah Network Health Care Team to India
The Nehemiah Network India Health Care Team has returned home with a burden on our hearts to reach India with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. During the two weeks of clinics in 10 coastal villages devastated by the Tsunami, we cared for 2335 people, gave out over 3388 prescriptions (Value over $152,460) and prayed with 221 people to ask Jesus Christ into their heart. We had the opportunity to minister in villages that had never heard the gospel before. Prior to the Tsunami, these villages and been closed to 'Christians' coming in to their villages. Since the Tsunami, there were many organizations providing immediate relief for the first few weeks following the Tsunami. Now, four months later, most of the support and relief has died off. The villages have noticed that it is the Christians that continue to show the Love of Christ and they and are more open than ever been before.
During the second week of clinic we went to the coastal village Saltan Kuppam. Just days prior to our arrival there, they had a fire-walking ceremony where they walked over hot coals for their gods. Many of these people came to the clinic with blisters and burns on their feet. It was an opportunity for us to share the love of Christ with them. After receiving physical care from Dr Greg Wallace, he directed one of his patients to the ministry station where we were praying and sharing the gospel with the patients. This young man, Prahakaram, sat there with myself and Pastor Sugirtharaj as we shared about Christ and prayed with him to ask Jesus into his heart. Please Pray for Prahakarem and others like him who we were able to minister to in these villages. Also, pray for Pastor Sugirtharaj and Rhani as they follow up with these villages.
While ministering to these coastal fishing villages near Chennai, we saw empty nets, empty boats and empty hearts. Through my role with the Nehemiah Network, I have had the great pleasure of going on many short term mission trips to various countries. I leave every country having fallen in love with the people and the local staff and there was no exception with India. My heart has never been challenged and burdened like it has been while ministering in India. The need for Word of Life youth centered ministry in India is a challenge on my heart like none other. There are over 1 billion people (1/6 of the worlds population) in India and more than 50% of India's 1 billion people are youth. This makes India one of the largest targets for a youth centered ministry like Word of Life. Our goal in taking this Nehemiah Network Health Care Team to India was not only to minister to the needs of those effected by the Tsunami but to open doors and establish relationships for this target 2010 country for Word of Life. Join us in praying for future ministry opportunities in India for Word of Life and the follow up that will take place.
I have included the statistics for the two weeks of clinics and pictures from both weeks below.
