Island Update

We are now approaching the end of the summer, and it has been great watching the Lord work. He has provided a great team of individuals and churches to help us get the Island back to normal. We are still working to clean-up a few areas of the Island, but many of the repairs have been completed. In many cases the repairs have left us in better shape than we were to begin with. We were able to upgrade a lot of our electrical services, and replace much needed roofing on several cabins. We have seen this Island used to touch the lives of countless young people as they are challenged daily with the Word of God, and it works in their hearts. This would not have been possible without the help of those who volunteered their time to help us here at the Island. We would like to thank all who came to help and for all the prayers that have made this summer possible.

Island Storm Cleanup Project Update

Since May 30th when a large wind storm went through the Island we have had over 50 volunteers come and help clean up the Island. Over the last week many of the trees have been cut up by a logging company that was here volunteering. Of the 25 buildings that ended up with roof damage, 6 of them have already been repaired and there are more volunteers coming in this weekend to fix some of the other buildings. The power lines are back up and there should be power back on the Island by this weekend.

We really praise the Lord for all of the people who have been willing to come and help. It has been amazing to see the willingness of the staff and the volunteers. Thanks to all of those who have given of their time and energy we are looking forward to starting this year's camp season as scheduled on June 24th.

We are still in need of carpenters and roofers to help finish the rest of the cabins that need to be fixed before the opening of camp in two weeks.

Island Storm Cleanup Project

On May 30th, 2006 a massive wind storm went through the Schroon Lake area effecting the Word of Life Island. Because of the destruction and damage from the storm we are organizing a massive cleanup effort to prepare for opening day of camp on June 24th. As a result of the storm, there are hundreds of trees that are down on the Island with around fifteen cabins needing minor roof and structural repair. The ropes course has some repairs needed to prepare for opening camp and all the major power lines are down on the Island as a result of the fallen trees. See pictures below from the storm and damage.

We are looking for the following people to help us in this effort to prepare for opening the Word of Life Island for camp on June, 24th.

• Power Line Men
• Carpenters & Construction Workers Needed ASAP
• Dozer & Backhoe crews for road repair & work
• Boat Drivers with NY PV licenses
