The Word of Life Mission Statement as it has been since founded by Jack Wyrtzen some 63 years ago is to "help strengthen and build up the Church of Jesus Christ". Our Mission Statement guides our response to the Hurricane Katrina relief effort. We've all watched in horror as our nation suffers through one of the worst natural disasters in its history. The aftermath of Hurricane Katrina has surely been sobering. Our thoughts and prayers go out to those who have lost loved ones, homes and livelihoods. We are putting feet to our prayers. In keeping with our Mission Statement, Word of Life is partnering with churches in these devastated states. Some of the churches have Word of Life sponsored student ministries for their young people. These churches have mobilized volunteers and are already on the ground. They have the network in place... they just need help... NOW! We need your help. We need to raise enough money to help cover the cost of travel and supplies to help rebuild. With gasoline prices you can imagine the expense of transportation for this ministry. Our response is two-fold. We are dispatching several work teams under our Nehemiah Network ministry. These teams will be taking toiletry and cleaning supplies to cover the basic needs of the people as well as tools and basic building supplies. In addition, staff and students from the Word of Life Bible Institute in Florida will be traveling to Alabama and Mississippi to provide help and hope to the victims. Immediately, we would like to send the resources that our partner churches need to help provide the care needed right now. Our main focus will be helping the partner churches get back on their feet so they can minister to their communities. The teams will invest in the lives of the people and share the message of the Gospel. What an opportunity to bring the message of living hope to the hurting while caring for their immediate needs. We need your help as soon as possible. Any funds that are not needed for the transportation and supplies will be given to the churches to continue to meet the needs of people in their area and church family. Some funds will be used to replace Bibles and Biblical literature. 100% of your donation will go directly to the Hurricane Katrina Project.
