Speakers

John Armstrong
Camp Speaker and National Administrative Coordinator John Armstrong was raised in the home of a Word of Life Area Missionary and has been around youth work all his life. After graduating from the Word of Life Bible Institute and School of Youth Ministries he joined the Word of Life staff. For 10 years he served as the Assistant Director on Word of Life Island, where he was also involved in speaking and ministering to thousands of young people. Seeing first hand the hurts and needs of young people in our society, it was there on the Island that his passion for ministry grew. Today, John serves as the National Administrative Coordinator for Local Church Ministries with Word of Life. In this position, he provides leadership to our West Coast, Southeast and Piedmont staff as well as continued influence in the national camping ministry of Word of Life. Described by others as passionate, purposeful, determined, energetic, exciting, and motivated, he speaks regularly at evangelistic and leadership training events. John resides in Schroon Lake, New York, with his wife Cathy and their three children.

Greg Dyson
Greg is the founder and the Executive Director of the Lion’s Den Youth Outreach Center. The Lion’s Den is a youth center designed to reach out to unchurched youth with the truth of Jesus Christ. A graduate of Word of Life Bible Institute, he holds a BA in Bible from Cedarville University and is completing an MS in Organizational Leadership from Philadelphia Biblical University. Greg speaks at regional men’s, singles and youth conferences and consults with local churches, businesses and colleges in the Greater Springfield, MA area. Pastor Gregory Dyson is currently serving as the Interim Minister for Church in the Acres. His Philosophy of ministry is to serve God with “Eternity in Mind.”

Joe Castenada
Joe Castenada and his wife have been serving the Lord in the local church for over 10 years, first in Washington and then Oregon. Prior to their marriage, he served as a program director for a camp in Auburn, WA, as well as enjoyed writing curriculum and other materials helpful for youth workers. Joe is an excellent communicator, clearly presenting the Word so that students respond and develop a passion for the Word of God. He has received a BS in Biblical studies from Faith Baptist Bible College and is presently pursuing a masters degree in youth ministry from Western Seminary. He’s excited about being involved in youth ministry long term.

Junior Camp Director/Speaker Pete Steele
With a heart for discipleship and a burden for the unsaved, Pete is actively involved in seeing young people grow to have vibrant and dynamic Christian lives. Saved at an early age Pete was influenced by godly youth volunteers and pastors as a teen. After graduating from college and settling into a career in Personal Management, Pete and his wife Deb were asked to start a Word of Life Student Ministry (Bible Club). Four years later they went to Missionary –in-Training Candidate School (M.I.T.) and joined the staff of Word of Life Local Church Ministries, where he now serves as the Local Church Missionary for Oregon. In addition Pete oversees the ministry on the West Coast as Regional Coordinator for that area.

John Lytle
Reaching and discipling children is John Lytle’s passion as a Word of Life Local Church Ministry area missionary in western Pennsylvania. His responsibilities include training leaders and helping local churches through conferences, club visits and one-on-one contacts. He hosts children’s evangelistic events like Fascar and Olympian Games. John is a former civil engineer and graduate of Word of Life Bible Institute. He and his wife Karen serve together reaching children.

Nathan Shoultz
As a result of getting involved in a Word of Life Bible Club in his local church, Nathan Shoultz developed a passion to assist others in developing their relationships with Christ. He and his wife Beth are excited about evangelizing and discipling young people in Washington State and seeing the Word of God change lives! As an area missionary, Nathan helps local churches develop vibrant youth ministries in the state of Washington and hosts regional events supported by those churches. A friend to pastors and youth leaders, Nathan has a heartbeat for discipleship and evangelism. He is focused on reaching thousands of children and students for Christ.

Steve Gledhill
Steve and Susan met at junior college in Marysville, CA and were married November 3, 1973. In May 1975, they rededicated their lives to the Lord for full-time Christian service. Steve received his Bible education from Louisiana Baptist University, Moody Bible correspondence courses, and from Word of Life Bible Clubs. In 1981, after five years of serving as youth leaders for Word of Life Student Ministries, they attended Missionary-in-Training candidate school (M.I.T.) for Word of Life Local Church Ministries in Schroon Lake, New York. They were accepted as missionaries to Northern California and have served there since January, 1981. Steve's life story has been featured on Pacific Garden Mission's "Unshackled."

Aaron Kingsbury
Aaron is currently serving as the Word of Life Area Missionary to local churches in South Central Ohio and West Virginia. His passion is to help local churches develop strong leadership teams, meet their ministry goals, and reach out to their cultural context with the relevant message of Christ. Through powerful ministry tools, constant interaction and fervent prayer, Aaron is personally involved in childrens’ and student ministries on a daily basis.
