from: mike, camp director Word of Life Island, a camp unlike any other where 45 acres are devoted exclusively to teen excitement and growth. Over 3,000 teens from across the U.S. and around the world come and spend a week with us. While here, trained counselors take a personal interest in the lives of each camper. Word of Life Island believes that young people have the potential to shape and change this generation for God. That is why our goal is to see their lives impacted by Christ. On the Island, we encourage a young person to see the need of living for Christ TODAY as well as making Biblical, principle driven decisions through the course of life. We trust you will join us this summer on 'The Rock'!
New for 2009! An exciting introduction to missionary aviation
our spiritual direction:
platform and personal Word of Life Camps believe in a strong 'pulpit' ministry and a personalized counseling ministry to have maximum impact in the lives of teens. We're not only purposeful in what we present to our campers in the course of 7 days, but also how and when we do it.
Each camp counselor is hand-picked from hundreds of college age students -- students who have demonstrated spiritual maturity and a heartbeat for America's youth. Counselors spend all of their time with their campers, looking to 'mentor' towards Christlikeness.
Our platform ministry focuses first on the need of every human: salvation by faith alone in Christ alone. Then, we begin to focus in on the needs of today's youth: purity, God's will, decision making, personal dedication and courage to share their faith.
for youth group leaders Youth Leaders are the success story of every youth group; we know that. So, we want to show our appreciation for the work you do throughout the year and for bringing your teens to camp through the 'Word of Life Island Youth Leader Appreciation Program'. This tiered system allows certain youth leaders to have their accommodations taken care of during their week with us via the Word of Life Inn and Conference Center. We also have meal arrangements for your leader ministry team on the Island, bookstore discounts, free weekends at Word of Life Snow Camp and scholarships to the Word of Life Bible Institute. All this for bringing your teens to 'The Rock'! Once you register your youth group, we'll send you all the detals.
team: competition Word of Life Island 'THE ROCK' is intense, no doubt about it! No matter whether you are cheering for 'The Red Team' or 'The Blue Team', or whether your cabin is trying to be named the 'Cabin of the Week' we know you will have the best week of your life!
As soon as you arrive on 'The Rock' the entire camp is split into two teams. From the beginning of the week until the Friday Night Concert you and your teammates are working together to strategize and prepare for the week's activities, activities and competitions which will decide who will be hoisting the ultimate prize on Friday night: The Clarke Cup! Cabin and team competitions are a huge part of the morning activities, while individual competitions are always fun during lunch, and afternoons are filled with sports tournaments.
While you are here you will also be a part of the cabin competitions, where throughout the week each cabin will be a part of the challenge to see which cabin is the cleanest, loudest and most creative. The winning guys and ladies cabin will be our guest on the Friday Night 'Party Barge' where you will enjoy all-you-can-eat wings and soda on an open top cruise of beautiful Schroon Lake.
Throughout the week you will be paired up with a counselor who will help you reflect on the Biblical truths you are being challenged with from God's Word. We can't wait to see you this summer on THE ROCK!

Island BBB campers stay at the Island and participate in the Island morning and evening meetings, and are transported over to the Ranch to use the skate park each afternoon.
Each camper will receive instruction on learning new tricks based on their current skill level.
Campers must bring their own bike, skateboard, or rollerblades. We do have some safety gear available for those who don't have their own, but we strongly recommend that each camper bring their own- helmet, knee pads, elbow pads, wrist guards.
